Motivational Interviewing: For Supervisors & Coaches
Welcome! Please read the following carefully to understand who this course is for, the course objectives and how the course will progress.
Course Description:
This course is intended for those MI practitioners who: 1. Have developed competency in their own MI practice (as evidenced by reaching competency on the MITI 4.2.1 or equivalent validated MI coding instrument), and 2. Who plan to (or currently do) provide Supervision and/or Coaching to those developing their own MI practice. It is important that learners have demonstrated competency in their own MI practice as this course will build upon that practice.
This course is a five-week instructor led course incorporating both synchronous and asynchronous learning. Each week will include a self-paced presentation, readings or podcasts, a practice activity to be completed on your own time (some with partner(s) from the course), and a live two-hour practice/discussion session. The total time spent on learning will be about 5-6 hours each week, for a total of about 25-30 hours to complete the course. All participants will receive feedback weekly: written feedback on activities submitted (practice activities), and in the moment verbal feedback in live practice sessions.
Please note: only those submissions received by the due date each week will receive feedback. To complete the course and receive a certificate, learners will complete weekly presentations, submit weekly activities and either attend Live sessions or watch the recordings. Submissions are due each week by 10AM Friday each week.
